Happy New Year!! How was your start to the New Year? Did you make any New Year’s resolutions? If so it is something related to the wardrobe or more life in general? I am not really good at New Year’s resolutions as mostly I take the life as it goes. Sometimes it’s better. But I tried to follow what I feel good about. If you read my posts for a while you already know about my Year without shopping challenge. When I made a promise to myself not to buy anything for a year. It was about finding my style, how to feel the best in my own clothes but mostly about to wear and how to wear everything that I owned. In the last updated wardrobe post, I mentioned I would like to go through wearing my wardrobe more, so I will use all clothes what I own. Even those colourful items what I have and couldn’t say goodbye to them. A bit of inspiration on how to wear colourful items with your neutral wardrobe.

How To Style a Colorful Item With Your Neutral Wardrobe
Sometimes it’s a scarf, bag or shoes. But that’s the items what we get as a present or we just felt to add a bit of life to our neutral wardrobes. Or it’s simply something what we really really liked and we didn’t mind the colour.
Scarves can add elegance and touch of colour in the simplest way. You can wear a colourful scarf around the neck, on the head as a headband or in a Jackie Kennedy or Grace Kelly style – lovely old fashioned way. If this is nothing for you, just wrap it around your bag handles.
Do you remember that feeling when you spot the beautiful shoes and you know it will be a staple in your wardrobe? I remember when I got bright blue pumps. I was there with a friend and she couldn’t believe I would get those shoes. It just wasn’t me, the colour was too much for my style. But when I wore them I felt so good. But they were the focal point of the whole outfit. I got so many compliments about those shoes, even from the managers in the office. 🙂 Sometimes it’s worth to step out of the comfort zone and experiment a bit.
Quite often we get a bag as a present if it’s not your cup of tea, you don’t need to leave it behind. You might wear it in a certain season but it can be worn all year as well as a little change to the darker days.
We don’t need to worry about the colours, we just need to take baby steps and not to stress too much. Following the rules of three would work as well. If you wear some colour keep the rest of the outfit simple. If you are in doubt wear an all-black outfit.
