Did you book your summer holidays yet? Or have you been planning your summer holidays for a long time now? We did as well. But not just that. We even received the wedding invitation and as the wedding takes place in Madeira, we take it as an opportunity to spend our summer holidays there. But what we plan to do is to travel through London, stay there for a couple of days and then fly to Madeira, where we’ll stay for over a week. On the way back we will take the same route. Back to London for a few days and then we’ll fly back home. That’s our 17 days of holidays. What To Pack for Summer Holidays With The Wedding Invitation and a Few Days In The City
It might sound scary at first, but as I said so many times and I’ll repeat, once you have a hard-working capsule wardrobe in place, packing becomes breezy. For me, it means I will pack most of my wardrobe. Except for outwearing and all jeans. What it actually means to a whole wardrobe? Shirts, tops, skirt, single pair of jeans, dresses, linen trousers, 4 pairs of slides, straw basket and I can’t forget a blazer. And of course beach essentials – bikini, one-piece, sarong and a beach towel.
Shirts
I like to wear shirts all year round, but especially in the summer they are great to wear over the bikini, or around the town. As the oversized fit makes it a perfect breathable piece.
Tops
Wrap tops, cami tops and tank tops are my go pieces this summer. Worn with the blazer if it’s colder in London, that it will create still put together an outfit, not that typical tourist’s outfits. And once it’s warm enough they are great to keep me cool even in the hottest summer. The wrap top has lovely loose sleeves that create extra comfort in the heat.
Bottoms
I don’t plan to take many bottoms, as I know I mostly wear dresses by the beach. I opted for linen pants, single pair of jeans and a skirt. I like to travel in long pants due to air conditioning on planes and in airports. Also for extra warmth, if needed, the British weather is really unpredictable, I’ll pack jeans and for everything else, a satin skirt is a great option. It can be worn to the beach with one piece of bikini as well. I was even thinking to take the jeans shorts but will need to think about it.
Dresses
As I mentioned before the dresses are great summer pieces. As they make a whole outfit. Less packing more wearing. I have only owned 3 dresses, plus the one for a wedding ceremony, but as it’s a simple slip-on dress can be worn in the city as well. That’s the beauty of a capsule wardrobe.
Accessories – Shoes and Bags
I don’t like to pack too many shoes, but as we planned different activities and locations I will need to take 4 pairs of shoes. I am a little worried to take only one pair of slides and mules for a wedding. Slides don’t take up so much space in the luggage so I am not too worried about it. And when it comes to the bags, all that I need is my straw basket and a small evening bag. Sunglasses are a must for me.
Last but not least
I have to mention the bikini, one-piece swimwear, beach towel, sarong and summer hat – even that I didn’t include in the ‘ plan ‘, that’s all the pieces that I need for a beach and spending many hours in the pool. As I can imagine my kids won’t be relaxing on the sunbeds :D.
You might think that’s too many items for a minimalist trip, but I had to take into consideration different climates and really unpredictable London weather. We have planned so many different activities and occasions. I think that wardrobe covers everything, at least it does to me.
